Origins of Caseydoodle

Casey was adopted from a local shelter, here on Long Island,
back in Feb.1995. She was 16 weeks old at adoption. Casey from the outset was headstrong and smart, with good temperment. She has that heedless, reckless pluck characteristic of the breed.
She is an excellent watch dog, always on guard. Training was quickly accomplished- house broken in 1 month.

Getting Casey to listen is quite another matter, a commonly
heard phrase in our house the
first year was "What did i say!!
I said no!...I said!"Her understanding of language is evident with words such as "Walk","Ball","Dolly"- a word and sentence recognition of over 200 combinations. She is strong willed , but provides unconditional love and companionship. Her adoption papers list her as "Irish Terrier" We have not been able to trace her ancestry.

The Irish Terrier is a rare breed. We would recommend you check with your local shelter first before contacting a breeder. Try contacting all your area shelters, dogs are often acquired as pets by people who do not have the time or are not ready for the long term commitment owning a dog represents. A breeder should be a last resort since dogs in shelters need all of our help. Adopting a dog is a serious responsibility, lasting for 15 years or more.

Casey is excellent with children, she has patience, and is quite gentle with a one year old. Our grandson Aiden enjoys trying to walk Casey.
